Features: I do not have an organization but decided to gather some friends and family to go to local grocery stores and hand out information to costumers on what happens to the animals on dairy farms and slaughterhouses. I think that if this information was brought to peoples attention, more people would choose a cruelty-free lifestyle. This is to encourage people to consider a vegetarian lifestyle by providing them the meal and follow up information to start themselves. This year we're striving to reach more students/faculty and hopefully open their eyes, minds, and HEARTS to a veg life!

Features: I plan to do an educational program for the clients at Tempo Clubhouse about eco. and political reasons for becoming veg. as well as health and nutrition. Tempo is a non profit clubhouse for members of the community in differing stages of recovery from mental illness. The program provides a daily meal as well as education about community involvement, job service, nutrition, health and wellness, etc. I have been cooking there for the past few months as a volunteer. I plan to get them to pledge to do Meatout Mondays and to teach them veg alternatives to eating meat and the many reasons why this is a good practice. I want to promote it as we come upon Earth Day.

As part of National Meat-Out Day, HFP will be holding a massive Veg Outreach event from 4 to 6 pm on Friday, March 21! We’ll be holding outreach stations at several downtown locations (Broad and Chestnut; 15th and Market; 17th and Market; 10th and Market; 30th and Market) to educate thousands of Philadelphians about the cruel realities of factory farming.
