be coordinating this event with my friend Cassandra.
It will be a family friendly style Demo/Leafleting/OVED
type of event. OVEDs (Outdoor Video Education
Displays) are something my AR grassroots group in
Toronto does and now others also do, where a small group
of us would set-up a TV/VCR and show Meet your
Meat and distribute Why Vegans (kind of like Faunettes).
We have incorporated them in to larger style demos
as well, and want to do this for the "Meatout" please.
We might order farm animal mascott costumes (pig
& chicken) if we can afford to do so to attract
attention and make it even friendly looking. If not
we still want to make it a friendly inviting demo, no
nudity, and no theatrical skits, and no shouting/yelling
at the public. We will have a small rectangular
table with various literature from multiple organizations.
We most likely will also send out a Media
Release in hopes to get the media to come to our event.

Die Tierfreunde e.V.,
Nandu und der VEBU veranstalten eine gemeinschaftliche
Aktion zum Thema "Fleisch": Eine satirische
Protestaktion, bei der die Passanten mit der willkürlichen
Unterteilung der Tiere in "Nutz-" und "Haustiere"
konfrontiert und ihnen "Hundenackensteaks" und
"Katzenschnitzel" angeboten werden. Als Nutztiere verkleidete
Aktivisten werben für den Verzehr von mehr
Hunden und Katzen, "Alttiere" werden von den Passanten
zum Schlachten gesammelt und Hunde- und Katzenfleisch
(tatsächlich vegane Leckereien) vom Bauchladengrill
angeboten. Mit dieser überzogenen Satire sollen
den Menschen selbst klar werden, dass sie weder Kühe
oder Schweine, noch Hunde oder Katzen essen müssen,
um genussvoll leben zu können. Zudem werden Flyer
verteilt, um sowohl die Satire, als auch den ernsten
Hintergrund der Aktion klarzustellen. Weitere Mitwirkende
sind willkommen. Wer Zeit und Lust hat sich
an der Aktion zu beteiligen, meldet sich bitte frühzeitig.

Ogni anno a Pasqua vengono uccisi 900 mila tra
agnelli, capre e pecore. Animali che arrivano quasi

our complex relationship with animals? Always wanted
to go to college to learn about animal rights? Now
you can! Historian and author Hilda Kean and animal
advocate Kim Stallwood will teach the course, Animal
Rights: past and present, at Ruskin College, Oxford
on March 16 - 20, 2009.
Eligible students may qualify
